What has the power to awaken me now
from the dark dream that has become my life?

Even your voice beckoning fails to rouse me,
for I know it is mere illusion,

a sleep-deprived mind resigned to simple
wish fulfillment,

a lovelorn heart grasping at straws, desperate
to feel a part of this experience they call human

when I never have.

Oppressed by circumstance beyond my control,
I suffocate, pulled under and under again.

And love? Love that ought be light dims and dulls,
and my skin aches from lifelong lack of touch.

A heart already receded concedes its inadequacy
and floats in oceans of soul, layers of tears.

Sleep seizes me, and I curl into an imaginary womb
to dream of new conceptions.

I wait to be reborn.

But nothing can nudge me
through the birth canal, for all I hear

is your voice and I know it is a trick.
And I am afraid, for I have lived

one life too many without people
who would love me back.

My embryonic tissue begins to die
as life squeezes every last drop of pain.

I suffer yet.

A failed experiment, I pray to Creator
to redeem this tired life and take me back

where I belong.

You have a rich and amazing gift for reaching out and HEALING with your writes of pain, Dawn. I really think you should think seriously about going down the road of offering your enormous talent as therapy of some sort, so that even more can benefit. It is uncomfortable to think of your suffering, but if it can be turned into something that is soooo valuable in terms of the redemption of other lives, it brings good out of the bad, perhaps. Above all, I pray that catharsis will be a long-term result for you, too. God knows we all need that, and our writing can be such a blessing in this way. You are original and head-on when it comes to "telling it like it is". I am sure that you are well-aware that many value you, but I know from experience that one source of deep pain can alienate anything else that is loving from penetrating your wounded heart. Hang on to the knowledge that the truth is that you ARE loved, even if you can't feel it. TY for this, and LOL Kate xx

This is awesome.
I take this is for just so long, then after a last gasp have to go read Dave Barry. We have to stay alive...I'm guessing.
