“We interrupt this broadcast…” Is it ever good news anymore? Just before bed, at breakfast, almost anytime of day you’ll find bad news bulletins, advisories and warnings to brace for another storm.
Beeping on the radio interrupts my favorite Christmas song. In a world gone very wrong, there’s been another child abduction, and I don’t know if I can bear to tune in later, watch the news.
From somewhere deep inside me comes a distant voice of joy: “Good news!" Hear good tidings of great joy. A child is born in far Bethlehem. Look up! Follow the bright star, risk this journey into peace and love.
As you go, take this message with you: Christ the Lord is born. He is Immanuel, God with us. Come, see. Choose to follow. There’s good news for you today and every day you listen to the Spirit’s call...
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you--for this is Good News, INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!! a bulletin that i don't mind listening to again and again--BRAVA!
The news is usually pretty bad, but it seems that is what people tune into. Very wise alternative you present, Dawn. It is a solution that will always bring comfort and joy.
Take care,
Sherry
