Mother Crone is a surreal prose poem about the ascent of man, available this fall from Aoife's Kiss Magazine.

Mother Crone awakens at the first sound of the baby's cry. Nestled in the heart of a daffodil, his tiny fists clench angrily at the empty sky. Like a spinster aunt to an orphaned child, the sun takes possession of the earth, loving harshly, sometimes cruelly. Nurturing in that way, Mother Crone coos, sticks a blade of grass in the screaming boy’s mouth. He suckles, squirms, his cries stalling by stages and he sleeps.
