Death Of A Teacher

Yesterday morning, just after eight,
An irate young man walked through a school gate.
Called a teacher out of her classroom,
Little did she know she was meeting her doom.

He confronted her about an incident
Where he had sexually assaulted her student.
The safety of the child was her only concern,
She never knew things would take a bad turn.

To inform the police was her only plan,
But the man took matters into his own hand.
She didn’t like the situation at first glance,
But this poor teacher never got a chance.

He stabbed her with a fatal blow to the chest,
All she had time to do was clutch her breast.
“Why did you stab me?” was her final say,
Before this martyr’s life was taken away.

Fellow teachers and children reacted in horror,
They never experienced this kind of terror.
For this teacher of more than twenty five years,
The entire nation has shed many tears.

Everyone knew her to be dynamic and assertive,
Some may say she was even aggressive.
But this teacher went in pursuit of what she believed,
And this is all the thanks that she has received.

She has left behind two daughters to mourn,
And two grandchildren whose lives are now torn.
Her death is a tremendous loss to us all,
Mrs. Evelyn James, to us, you will always stand tall..

What is left to say except that someday, maybe, we will look upon such an awful murder as something more than a blurb on the six o'clock news.

What a heart wrenching event. We have had murder at a nearby school here too. Sometimes it's children killing each other. our moral society is in bad need of a complete overhaul. Thanks for sharing this.

No, John, I didn't know her personally, but the situation is scary.. as we have had a similar case scenario at our school recently.. in that a girl reported to us that her neighbour raped her..and my principal took her to the police...the man was recently picked up for questioning..but is now outside.. and being in a school with only female teachers and no security..well..you can imagine how we feel at times...
Thanks for your comments all..
