written after a retirement service for my wife. She had always been there to support others as they were honored. On this day she was honored. I had to put the experience on paper.
She was a shadow dweller.
Her father was a pastor
and she shadowed him
and supported him.
Her plans to be a missionary
took the back seat
and she married a young pastor
and supported him.
Through the years she sat in the shadows
and smiled as her husband served.
There she sat in the shade
and supported him.
She had three children
who accomplished many things.
She sat in their shadows
and supported them.
Her day came as it always does
for those who serve others.
And she made a name for herself
standing in the spotlight of the sun.
Today they honored her
with talks and gifts and such.
And her husband stood proudly in the shadows
and supported her.
This is awesome. A loving tribute to a wife who has stayed in the shadows, but now is in the lime-light. Such an incredible honor from her co-workers and you.
