I wrote this today...I was trying to write about the ultimate Valentine and only He came to my mind!
Ah! That He must love me
For He named the stars after me
And crowned me queen of the earth
The grass beneath my feet is always green
And His songbird awakens me in the early morn
He knows of every hair on my head
Every shade of color my eyes take during the day
And every single breath that I take
He takes it with me
Who has ever been so loved?
Who here can boast of a greater story?
My love not only died for me but defied death
In order to be by my side always
So while you’re content this year that you received
A mere rose or a box of chocolate
I will be peeking through a window in my cottage
Above the clouds watching you go through yet
Another inevitable heart break
As you savor every breathtaking moment, hiding it away in that broken bottle
Remember your one thousand years is but a day to us
Yours is momentary but
My valentine is eternal
Honored to comment on this poem: I love it when I find an inspirational poem that is not sappy. And this one fits the bill beautifully. Ode to the One who knows you best-- Ode to the One who Loves... I like your last two lines especially, there's a lot to think on and ponder. --Charlie
Good though on Valentines's Day.
Why is it that forms of love other than the romantic (inlcuding the most important) are sometimes brushed aside on Valentiee's Day?
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
It almost made me cry.
