I can still remember his face like it was yesterday, his dark, dark features, almost blood shot eyes and a demeanor that spoke of pain untold, he brought tears to my eyes and hope to my soul.)

I read the story of his life through his eyes
His pain flashed before me
His longing hugged my soul
From across the bus

I sent prayers of comfort
He seemed to have sensed it
For he looked straight at me
Offered a polite nod
As if to say
thank you

(Several people have had that effect on me. I strongly felt their sadness as if it
were mine. For several minutes, I travel with them to a place I can’t describe. At
first I thought it was weird, but I learned to ‘speak’ back to them with my
comforting thoughts. Always, they’d look at me right at that moment as if they
heard my prayer)

Beautiful experience to savor...
I am sure our spirits can speak to one another. I have traveled to Haiti many times and worked with many people there. I don't speak Creole and yet...we communicate. I was even stopped on the street once and asked why I loved Haiti and why I was there. The only thing that had prompted this question was me smiling at a woman...
Special experiences that bind our hearts together.

I've been there and it's true; a persons eyes sure can give them and their trials aways. This poem was caring, sweet and heart tugging. :)

A loving and caring act like this can make all the difference on a spiritually connected level..I take it you are like me..one of the few without an ipod and therefore alert to others around us. I really liked this piece. With Love, Diana.

When I look at people's eyes...they tell me many things when unaware they look back at me for a fleeing second.
Those that had untold pain can read a book with gratitude.

"If God were one of us,
Just a slob like one of us,
Just a stranger on a bus
Tryin' to get home."

Between your touching work and a previous previous religous poem that I read, I though thes pop lyrics would be appropriate.
This is a very sad and touching work.

Strange but true, how one can speak to another without saying a word.
Nice poem Bernice...
