...the heartbeat
of love's anticipation

Love is...
Laughter from the belly
of a babe's toes
Two pair of slippers carefully laid
side by side at the bottom of an old brass bed
A single raindrop on your nose
 
Love is...
A mother's prayer
a father's pride
an adoring husband
a devoted wife
Long awaited rain on a thirsty land
 
Love is...
A motherbird's journey
to build its nest
a gush of wind
between two angry voices
an apology
from a grudging heart
 
Love is...
A jolt of forgotten memories
the wonder of Belle
at a masquerade 
shades of gray
under a matted hat
a happy sigh
on a dying man's lips
 
Love is...
the lost moments
after a first kiss
A goodnight song sung
by the moon to the sun
the rise and fall of a chest
the heartbeat of love's anticipation
 
Love is...
The flicker of a candle
against a gentle breath
An unopened love letter
A name spoken softly
a loaf of bread
a child
you
me.

An excellent description, making a bouquet of words worth to be engraved in stone so the rain can take a little of it everytime the skies are asking what love is...
