Poem Artwork

He came to me
with far more riches
than my simple mind
could ever fathom
an endless length of carpet
rolled out before me
leading
to a destination
most men would kill for
a world full of earthly treasures
pleasures beyond comprehension
but then he said
there was something I must do
"You must worship me"
"You must forsake your Jesus"
and when I cried No
then began my torture
first he took away my job
my family, my friends
then my house,
my reputation, my honor
and as if that were not enough
he made my flesh weak with sickness
my heart started to fail
I became paralyzed
so when he returned
hoping I'd changed my mind
I looked him dead in the eye and affirmed
"You can take away this body
but you can never touch my spirit
I belong to my saviour Jesus Christ
who lived and died for me"

What's amazing is how varied his approaches in our thoughts can be and how many ways he can come IF we don't decided exactly what we really want for ever-lasting... Great title

Amen and amen, Bernice. Powerfully expressed - broad is the way to destruction, narrow is the way to LIFE. We are His. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

the devil will intimidate but we have power over his evil given to us by God, it's not the devil that destroys us totally, it's living in a negative no faith hateful brain that does the damage, loving kind faithful people have more fun out of life even with the devil knocking on the door. It's no maybe baby we have to learn to take the good with the bad, but that doesn't mean letting the bad totally consume us. Bad and evil totally consumes when we are mean and evil like the devil, personally I like defying gravity. My father was mean as hell right on into his grave, I told myself, the sins of the father will not be the sins of the son. One thing I did was quit drinking, want to get with the devil, just start or keeping on drinking alcohol. Drugs and alcohol make the mind weak for whatever.
Hey great poem, you got me sounding like a preacher but that's ok.
did I say anything that make some sense, hopefully. hugs
