Poem Artwork

Have your pick
cellulite is on display
Let the auction begin
a dollar per pound?
No? Cheaper?
First come, first serve?
No kidding!
didn't know  it was a free show...
her thong's riding high
cutting through flesh
peeking through her low(er)-rise pants
no bra, more nipple, no style
a piece of sheer fabric
bought for half a paycheck
men are staring, bulges quivering
she's got the power
it makes her happy
she teases more
she teases more
she's a walking disaster

And that guy
yes, that one over there
No, his mama didn't do that
his pants are not lowered for
a spanking--eventhough he's been bad
maybe it's an underwear contest
showcasing the new style in boxers
I hear it's G-Q to have your pants
running to the knees
they want to be like celebreties
the nose, the lips, the boobs
oh yeah, them boobs
what a generous bunch they are
they cut to the chase
overflowing, can't be contained
it's the designer's fault they say
but whose fault is it
when their kids begin to mirror them?

What happened to our brains?
when did they go mush?
where is taste?
who stole respect?
where did decency travel to?
where is class?
oh, I know, I know, I know
class is out
the teacher's dead!

(I saw this woman yesterday, she may as well not have worn any clothing, she was a disaster, her lace thong was all over the place, her boobs were almost falling out of her skimpy blouse, I was embarrased for her....there is a way to be sexy, sassy and classy without being trashy!)

Oh! You are soooo right with this! I loved it and couldn't agree more!

You are right the teacher is dead and the media has taken over. People want to look and act like persons they see on TV... Many stars and TV shows have no morals... so there. Parents wake up and teach your children.

Hi Bernice--I feel very much in agreement with the poems of yours I have read. "I'll be back". :)

Have been you to the beach and forced to see an overweigh Valkyrie wearing spandex? or God help us, a bikini?
Fashion? which fashion?

certainly can relate, you laid it out here in your own super fashion,
this older lady watching this young man with his pants hanging down over his butt and underwear looked at me and said, "if you ask me, it's an invitation."

I seen a woman in a mico mini & fish nets & stripper boots a tube top (tube tops are strechie materials that have no straps & are just a strechy tube-lol) & the most beautiful Hair & make-up ewww was very red ....I was in the dollar store. The lady must have been about 70 years old. Goodness. Yes I talked to her to make sure she wasn't escaped from a group home-lol
GAWD!!

Bernice,

Your poem brings so much to light. There's a time and place for everything to include manners of dress. Pitiful that some use the wrong time and place for everything. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

Such words of inspiration. Where is the class? The teacher is dead. Not on my watch. Wise words but will the youth listen and where are they supposed to shop? How many at their age could stand all alone against these styles? Not many. Excellent write. Liz

Oh yes, it is a sad state that not only the young, but even some of the adults (21 to 40's) are more undressed than dressed. And they wonder why they are not respected. What is even worse are those who go to church partially undressed.

I must agree saw a certain young pop diva being interviewed on TV today talking about how she wants her fans to respect her for she is very intelligent. She was wearing little in the way of clothing, her acts consist of dry humping on stage to songs with lyrics that scream do me...
Why can't men respect her? LOL

This is fabulous and O so true. Modesty is not what fashion and Hollywood has been peddling for a long time now. I hate to have boobs flashed in my face, I much preferred the old days when I did the undressing in my mind. LOL

Amen! I can't believe some of the clothes that even children in elementary school wear! While I don't believe we should be covered neck to toe, what ever happened to modesty? I agree with Marcia...dress like ladies and gentlemen!

Ohmygosh! Ya have to wonder what she lets her kids wear.
"where is taste?
who stole respect?
where did decency travel to?
where is class?"
How true...how true, Bernice. Have an unfinished poem that speaks on this subject, but not as well and thorough as your poem. Good for you!

I wish the TV show "What not to Wear" was a must classroom credit for high school seniors. Camera's rolling in their closets, undercover footage showing their poor taste. The Makeover -- most women have no idea how horrible they look until they see themselves on TV.

Great Poem -- Deborah

Sounds like my kinda girl!
Cell U Lite, Coke Lite, Butter Lite, Spuds U Lite... sounds like a thin mobile phone.

Funny thing is that peeps think they're being unique, not realising everyone is at the mercy of retail... So many think our choices are endless... Here the new vogue is to buy old cloths from charity shops, to help the environment.
Kinda like a public clothes library....

You've expertly covered (no pun intended) several subjects in this write Bernice but what struck me most is you footnote. It made me think of the movie The Accused starring Jodie Foster. They walk the walk, talk the talk, and dress the part then sometimes become victims when their display of overt sexuality is taken the wrong way. I feel sorry for these women. They're just saying, "look at me, I'm worth something" but the way their looked at is not what they intended. Or, is it? I say, be a lady and make the best of what God gave you. You're made in His image. Don't change his masterpiece. Okay, off my soap box.
