When You've lost a parent, you become a little paranoid about the other one living longer. I haven't seen my mom for almost five years and taking care of my Dad through his health crises until his death has taken a toll on hers as well...and it worries me...alot. So I'm trying to get her here so I can take care of her.
I can't remember how you smell
and it scares me
I can't remember how it feels to be in your arms
and it taunts me
When I hear your voice all weak and lost
my fragile heart bleeds just a little bit more
Time, time, time, time can be a cruel master
he has stretched you
and robbed you
hurt you and ridiculed you
oh, the things you've been through mama
the things you've seen
the ordeals you've endured
you've always been that pillar of strength for everyone
now it's time to take care of you
let me take care of you
brush your hair and make you soup
Embrace me, embrace me Mama
stain me with the scent of you
hug me till I'm out of breath
let me love you and make you beautiful again--
place a dozen lilies on the crown of your head
let me love you, your heart and even your bones too.
((Photo above was taken during my mom's last visit to the US, Nina was only 5 months old and now she is 5 years old. I miss Mom))
This is a beaoutifully written poem
with so much love and caring
with a passion to help the one that brought you
to this world, God bless you and your dear Mother
Peace be with you Both
With the love you have to share I am sure your mama will be smothering you with hugs real soon Bernice, for you are the Angel sent her way. Thank you for sharing.
I find your poem deeply heart-touching, loving and truly meaningful, Bernice. The love you have for your mom shines. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes to you,
This is beautiful and I can feel it in every fiber of my being...that is a powerful poem. I understand what it is like to miss your Mama...take care of her while you have the chance, even if it is just through phone calls and letters right now.
You are like one of those kids whose parents will never stop bragging about. Knowing he is in a better place, your dad must be smiling and saying Job well done thank you Lord. I love the way you honor your parents. Its so contagous and lights up any face that reads what you write about them even without knowing them. Your mother is a blessed woman and I can see you slowly transforming into the better part of her.
Read Proverbs 31. you and your mom fit the descrption. God bless now and always.
What a beautiful endearing poem, and yearn for your mother's presence! I don't see how she could resist your plea after reading this splendid piece! I hope you see her soon, and I'll pray too!
Loving children, loving parents, what a great combination!

Children who have loving and caring parents sometimes don not understand just how precious they are . . . There are many of us who didn't have this love and devotion and we have missed a hell of a lot in life . . . I can see that you care very deeply for the person who brought you into this old world . . . I hope you see her soon . . .
This touched my heart as with my own illnesses over the past few years have taken their toll on me I often see the way my daughter looks at me, or how if I am on the phone with her she can sense when the world has taken it's toll on my smile. Kids loving parents, parents loving kids...that is how life should be and I bet your Mom knows that as well.

Such a touching and beautiful heartfelt plea that surely will touch her soul. You can heal each other with these words and hugs. I pray she heeds your words and prayer. Love and hugs to you Bernice and to your lovely mother. Love and hugs, Bonnie
Not easy to lose a parent, but even harder is not to remember their special smells or things they did, till one day, you smell that same smell, somewhere, and the memories come rushing in...thats a good day...Ed & Rufuz
I love the photo of your mom with Nina.
