a recurring dream (I’d had them so often)
they were becoming a memory
a constant journey of migrating people
they’re faces kept changing like yarn on a wheel
did I ever reach the end of the road
did I even know what I was looking for
I’d ask directions it was always the same
“follow me honey, I know the way”
yet, I’d just arrive in another new place
not know anyone, not see your face
times I would stand so paralyzed
where are you baby, I’m feeling afraid
I’d been on rivers, paths and trains
over snowy mountains, and into dark caves
who were these people on these old roads
with seeming purpose, somewhere to go
morning would come leaving bits and pieces
somewhere I knew, we’d had conversation
somewhere I’d seen you, and you’d made it alright
somewhere out there, while I slept in the night
