god talked to me through you (lengthy prose)

It's a lengthy journal type prose...
Category baffeled me...yet I chose Sociology.

in the early morning
semi awake and no
desire to get out of bed
I thought it a good time
to talk to god

telling myself to allow and receive
any message he had for me
I felt myself going into trance
just then the telephone rang
it took a few tries before I realized
instead of being annoyed that
it had broken my frame of concentration
I grinned to myself, maybe its god calling me

well I answered and it was the LA Times
attempting to sell me the paper and though
perhaps only a minute went by while the
man went through his pitch, I had tuned him
out, knowing I hadn’t read the paper since
the LA riots, disgruntled at the media
in general for creating frenzie amongst the people
all in the name of sensational news, but I realized
how many did read it as if it was some type of
gospel, their daily practice to stay informed
how it fed their minds and swayed opinions
maybe to them god was in the paper and I thought
of telling this salesman my philosophy yet knowing
he would not care, he’s just earning a living
sell another paper, get another commission
so I spared him the details and politely declined

As I hung up the phone another thought
triggered my mind
a Rumi poem, and I won’t quote him because I don’t
remember it word for word, but the gist I recalled was this…
You won’t find soul on the bathroom walls, you have to
walk outside and talk to the old woman, she’s blind and
she smiles to everyone, she has soul

As I sat down to journal these morning thoughts
I realized god was talking to me, for he has always
said he is within all things and through us he expresses
and in the world are those gurus and preachers, spiritual
leaders who declare god talks through them and yet i
thought - what about the everyday people
who work and play
and exist day to day certainly god talks through them

…then I remembered
last nights dream, well part of it anyway, I was carrying a baby
walking down a street, seemed I couldn’t remember
where I had parked my car, I heard voices behind me, and
a young man’s snicker, then a hand sliding up the back
of my dress, as I turned to look, I saw three young men and
a girl, they saw my baby and apologized, and asked me
what I was doing on the street.  They befriended me
by driving me around to help me find my car, of course
I woke up then, and I don’t know if I found it.

but either way, on this random day, at this random moment
I would talk to whomever I found, without judgement
or purpose, just to see what god wanted to say….

I heard a lonely woman longing for a helping hand
she had loved someone, and felt the beauty when he
acknowledged her, and was now sad he had turned away,
another expressed the peaceful beauty of silencing the wind
and clarity by ignoring distractions.  A woman humorously
commented she was approached by someone assuming she
wanted a fairy tale, and a daughter was sad
because her mother had
died, another was depressed and trying to laugh it off

A man confesses a wife will lock you out if you have
sex with someone else.  A woman celebrates the birthday of a
poet, and another feels insecurity of purpose.  A woman
assures me to know true love, you must be yourself,
and a woman says she holds in her thoughts because
no one would understand them, and finally another is
angry because a memory was not remembered.

About this time, I was feeling, a bit overwhelmed
and hungry so I concluded my walk, sat down to
write and say thank you so very much god for talking to me
through everyday people today.
