Reno is a friend through tried and true
we are there for each other because we are
and i thought i was coming to escape for awhile
cuz she lives in a place outside of the city
and five dogs and three horses are alot of fun

she takes me out to a remote mountain lake
where her friend  has a boat and
while London is burning i'm feeling grace
as I nurse my headache in fresh mountain air
i should have seen it coming

the evening progresses we go to the city
i can already feel its agitation
a cover band is playing Annie Lennox "Sweet Dreams"
then we walk next door to gamble
her  husband hands me twenty bucks
which i instantly double and
my friend makes hers a hundred
and we smile again at grace

but everything isn't always what it seems
and she never told me but i had a feeling
violence was part of their house
i say a prayer as we walk in the front door
and its hell begins to break loose
its the light you know, it stirs it up
lets out what's inside botteled up
and flew like the lamps across the room
at the teenage son begging it on
conflict right there in their living room and
we wonder why the world's a mess
until its resolved in our own backyard
the world will never know peace

the husband took off with a squeel of truck tires
i asked the son to relax in his room
i let my friend sob it out in my arms
and i prayed for her and my guidance
tomorrow i leave to another town and another friend
just never knowing
yet always expecting grace

YOur an important Debb in their hearts and minds~! The need you and that is why your drawn~! I felt this deeply as I read it, I have felt the pain of negativity and still do, through my boyfr. son*( also a teen) With prayers and being around to listen and be Positive seems only a tempor. answer for now, and burning sAge in every room, as a prayer is felt happening and a window open, to let the pain and negat. have a place to escape too.. I would rather bottle it and bury it forever. *( It's a Native American indian Philosph) and I feel it working. I hope things are improving for your friend and her family. AS you see and felt- it's been there for awhile... Go where your heart leads you- your called and I'm sure you know this- I feel it too...
