its rhythm steady taught tight the skin sounding his eyes so deep in gaze the muscles stretched and curved my thighs Atawaya I whispered to his powerful medicine given in initiation of trance drums and black feathers sang through the night drums and black feathers sang through the night with me now power seducing a strength spirits in love touch longing desire a passion writhed across my throat soothing surfaced wisdoms Atawaya I whispered releasing emotions buried so deep drums and black feathers sang through the night drums and black feathers sang through the night softly the dying upon altar self begging release beyond mystery relentless its mercy graceful hands of the healer probing beyond shadows Atawaya I whispered to the light of the giver drums and black feathers sang through the night drums and black feathers sang through the night into me now upon strings of time secret caves explored behind my eyes shedding our garments upon missions discovered words came to me that I didn�t know in ancient language I�d never spoke Atawaya I whispered take me home drums and black feathers sang through the night drums and black feathers sang through the night merged into seeing the blending of being from a time of oh� long ago lights and bright colors ecstatic feeling of lovers then an out breath of mother became the in breath of father Atawaya I whispered is it done? drums and black feathers sang through the night drums and black feathers sang through the night we are always there we are always one when ever we are we are always done where ever we are we are always at home remember within we are never alone audio of this poem

Beautiful poem, it transports the reader to a place that many only dream of. "Drums and Black Feathers" reminds me of an era long gone. It reminds me of my own heritage, Cherokee.
