Old man winter
we've had quite enough
all your bitchin and moaning
you seem to be stuck

delicate spring is trying to
peek through, showing
dainty pastels and
new budding shoots

but she's shy and demure
and quite overwhelmed
when you blast her with
coldness and icy wind storms

it is time old man to
give up the ghost
surrender yourself
and let it now go

spring wants to show
her pretty new dress
twirl her frills and
lay you to rest

but don't be so worried
or cross or delayed
she's gentle and kind
fertile and warm

let her defrost your crisp air
using  blue sky highlights
then building soft nests and
chirping delight

sensations awaken and
blooming bursts forward
colors and fragrance
spring fever is born
