If you ever wished hard enough for something, that wish may be... just may be...become true ...

Poem Artwork

She found it lying in the sand,
abandoned and dirtied,
carelessly left behind by the sunbathers.

She picked it up, looked closely at it.
It was a doll with the most handsome face
she had ever seen!

It had strands of silvery hair - very shiny and long,
which flowed with the wind.
Its skin was of fair complexion.

Its face was composed of
fine features
and a very confident jaw line.

A pair of mesmerizing brown eyes,
nose and mouth were finely sculpted to perfection.
Enchanting beauty in a male doll.

“Well, hello there! Don’t you look handsome?!” She said to the doll.
For a moment, she thought she saw him smile.
No! Don't be silly! How could a doll smile? It must be her own imagination.
She smiled back anyway.

On any given day, she would have handed over anything
she would happen to find to the lost and found -
but today, something was different.

Today, she found a doll that she really liked,
and she wanted to keep it
for herself.

She put the doll in her pocket, and decided to take it home with her -
a silly woman who still wanted to play with dolls like a silly girl.
Already well into her late forties, she remained single and was thus very lonely.

To complicate matters, Mary knew she was no great beauty.
She was aging quite rapidly and failed to turn any heads
while walking down the street.

She spent most of her adult life
looking after her sick mother
which she did out of love.

Eventually the years had passed,
and the suiters came and gone,
and so too, had her mother.

Now Mary was all alone in that house that her mother had left 2 years prior.
Many would-be beaus had tried to win her heart,
but she was too shy to befriend anyone.

"Hi there! What's your name?"
She asked the doll. "Are you lonely just like me?"
She brushed his silver hair away from his face and planted a kiss on his lips.

The doll looked lovingly at her
with those mesmerizing brown eyes
that seemed only to know well of her loneliness.

She looked at his lips,
which seemed to be greeting her without even saying a word,
"Hello, Miss Lovely! Thank you for your kiss!"

She combed his messy silver hair so that is laid neat and shiny once again.
"Hello, my silver haired prince!" she continued,
"I love you! I wish you were real!"

She put him back on the mantelpiece.
He watched her with those brown eyes once again.
They seemed to follow her wherever she roamed around the house.

Suddenly, without warning,
a deep, masculine voice spoke,
"Come to me Mary! Come to the beach, and I will meet you there."

Mary jolted awake, rubbed her eyes.
What happened? Did I fall asleep? Is someone here ?
She looked around for signs of anyone but there was no one around, except herself.

"Come to me, Mary! Come to the beach, and I will meet you there."
The voice spoke once again. By now Mary was freaking out.
She was alone and scared.

Perhaps the doll is haunted and that is why it was abandoned on the beach!
She thought. She paced back and forth inside her house,
Occasionally shooting a nervous, darting gaze over at the silver hair doll,
silently wishing she had turned it over to the lost and found...

Looks like you are writing an epic poem into a story. The handsome prince theme isn't new but you have now taken the Barbie Dow equivalent of a man, not like G.I. Joe, but more like, The Handsome Prince, that comes alive through some sort of magical move that must be discovered.

Write on…

A very handsome prince indeed! I hope she will not give up on him. After all, she had made that wish on the doll that he would become real person.
