The Day My Father Died
It’s been 20 years today, since
my beloved father died
I remember that awful day,
twenty years ago, when I heard
that awful knock gently on my door
There stood my mother and my
sister, faces streaked with tears
My mother said with a quaking voice
your father died today.
I was shocked, but than I wasn’t
I knew it was coming near, my
my mind couldn’t accept
that my Dad was no longer here.
Twenty years later, both Dad and Mom
are gone. They say time heals all wounds
but some live on and on.

Beautiful verses that bring back memories for me. My Mom died of a hit run driver when she was 39 yrs old. She left 8 kids behind. Daddy died at 63 yrs old. He never remarried. Yes Mary, some live on and on.
