even on wedding days, it seems as though you aren't wanted.

She married yesterday and drove a stake
through my heart, not because of her young man.
The wedding itself is what caused such pain.

I drove from a far away place, got lost along
along the way, it took six hours for a three
hour drive; I’m surprised I made it in one day.
The next day I arrived at the wedding place, she was getting
dressed, her bridesmaids by the side. I tried to get near
her, but was shuffled basically aside. I left
the room to go near the pool, when I heard her
voice, cry out “Mom I need you!” As it was
I was to pretend to help her dress, I was just
there for a photo shoot.
Most unfriendly people I thought, even my daughter,
But that was nothing compared to what happened next.
There was the normal lighting ceremony for mothers of bride
and groom.  As I went to light the candles for my
daughter, they said “oh, not you, we want her stepmother!”
I was shocked, hurt and confused. Would someone bring
things to light? “Sorry, you weren’t at rehearsal last night.”
Than when her father walked her down the aisle, the preacher
asked the usual thing, “who gives this woman away”  Her
Dad’s answer surprised me so much, I thought I was going
to faint , “My granddaughter and I do”, was a
huge slap in the face.
After all was said and done, she said, “Mom, I need you again”.
Was it to hug me, let me congratulation the bride and groom?
No, it was for another photo shoot.

My heart aches and lay beating on the floor
And for future family relationships, between she and I;
she ferociously slammed the door.

Sadly these things do happen sometimes. I know you must be hurting a lot inside . Perhaps some how you can find the strength to forgive them for thier rudeness and short comings. You'll be the winner in the end....M

Mary, this is definitely a time in the relationship with your daughter when you were dealt a tough hand to win with -- keep the faith and a cool head, sooner or later, she will recognize what she has done and how it must have adversely impacted you -- then, things will be righted -- patience, patience and faith -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

Your pain comes through clearly on a day that should have been brightness and light. But you are a strong woman and will get through this -- this poem is the first step expressing your sorrow and hurt .... your daughter may not be very young .... but eventually she will be old enough to realize she hurt you. I hope that day comes soon. Let your little granddaughter be the beautiful bridge between you and your daughter. In days to come, she's going to really need you and you will surely be there for her -- that's what mother's are for.
In the meantime, I do feel sad that you were hurt so much. Susan

Oh boy, can I feel the aching in your heart at the realization of being used. Never should have happened, but it did. I am so sorry this happened to you and I know how much it hurts....

Be always safe,
Karen

Mary,
This is terribly sad and touching, the pain of it rips the heart. I can only wish you strength and thank you for being brave enough to share it with us.

The pain of being slighted by ones we love and who we feel love us is real and sharp and cannot be ignored. I was a step dad who raised two daughters and was always there for them and I am still the ones there kids call Poppy. There own father never paid support, supported their school causes etc but I often wonder if they got married who they would ask to walk them down the aisle...

This is profoundly sad and hurtful, Mary. My words cannot do justice to how you must feel so I shall just assure you of my empathy. Love and best wishes,

Regis

I don't know how long you had been separated from your ex-hubby and your daughter, it is sad that sometimes the stepmoms are getting in the way and in bringing up your daughter to be a less compassionate person. Let's keep our hopes up high that your daughter might change later when she has her own family, then she will realize how much she has hurt you.

Children often suffer earlier in their lives, and then much later in their lives when a divorce isn't adjusted well; and sometimes the adults will suffer as well. I know it's very difficult for you because it seems like you have lost a daughter twice.

Keep well, and pray to God that she will change.

Lots of love to you,

Sandie Angel :o(
