Women's Choice Of Men

With all the good men out there, why do women always choose the b..#.#d?

you know the danger, you know the risk
when sitting on our spinning disk
you know where to safely lie
so into the abyss you don't fly
but it seems you need that rush
as closer to the edge you push

you love to feel the searing heat
bringing warmth to ice cold feet
is it madness or an abject desire
that pulls you into the burning fire
do you really think that you can tame
this wild and exotic dancing flame

must be why, when given to choose
between safety and everything to lose
the former you want around to befriend
yet at the latter your love you'll send
and when once more your fingers burn
to that nice friend you will turn

one remains and your hungry mouth feeds
the other off doing some heroic deeds
not for him toiling in midday sun
after all, slaying dragons must be done
for which of these do you women shout
the good honest simple man? I doubt.

David, thank you for inviting me to read this. I admit I have always been attracted to the bad boys. But I am married to a good guy...and...well...I'd have to know you a little better to explain why I am still drawn to the baddies of the world.

Wonderfully written. Smoothly frlowing, full of meaning and pain.
I hope the pain and sadness is only in your poetry. You sound too loving and caring a person to have lived through this kind of deception.
...if so, your turn will come for the perfect love. Take care, Denise.

~~~I have to agree with Ted, the bad men ARE addictive...lol! On a serious note... The second stanza BURNS and the wild dancing flame thing---knocked me off my feet! The last verse packs one hell of a punch! You knocked this one out! And cold. Excellent emotion smackes this page all over the face.
Thanks,
Emilie
the don't feel worthy of the love of a good man, so they choose to punish themselves, but a bad man is addictive.
This is certainly true in many cases but not true in others, I feel it has lumped all "Women" together and protrayed us in a very negative light. The poem is flawless in form and flow, but I have to differ with the message.
In some cases my friend,
this is so true. I've
seen it many,many times.
We are mere humans and
prone to make the wrong
choices in life sometimes.
Also, this could be reversed.
I've seen the same in men...
Hugggs,
~~Linda~~
Indeed Sir Knight such is the plight of the feminine gender for they fear surrender to One that is perfect so they select one they can leave free..the perfect One cannot be undone in the heart of the feminine gender..hmmm so we surrender to plight..losing our Light!
Thought provoking write..I thank you Sir Knight!...
