Eight long years of being alone
Only my kids to share the home
Not complaining, they’re just great
Though they're not a true soul mate
My friends I kid that I’m just fine
Even myself, almost all the time
Arriving back when things are mad
Wanting to admit I'm so sad
Somehow it just doesn’t seem fair
With my children my woes to share
So without a lover by my side
I bury those fears deep inside
Even when things go so well
There is no one there to tell
All this wouldn’t be too bad
If real love I’d never had
So I lie awake each dark night
Needing a new love to share my plight
Happy to pay whatever the price
Hoping to attain true love twice
Even then I have one true fear
That should this woman ever appear
She’ll lack the power she’ll need to wield
To penetrate my stubborn defensive shield

You jumped in my head and spoke for me. Chilling....and very frightening. Very good expression and longing....and yearning and everything else. Truly heartfelt.
Thank you,
Emilie

So very sad..
I agree, if she's the right one, she'd get through to you. *hugs*
The surprise is, you are admiting that you are to blame for not letting anyone in . If that's the case you have a real quandary..
