is sort of a waste

ribbons and lights
to suit your fine taste

icicles, glitter
receipts and plastic
wonderful, yes
but not so fantastic

this year I did college,
parties and bars
I have wonderful things,
I have three guitars

golf clubs, quarterstaffs
these things are all here
but most importantly
is you, my dear

gaudy shirts, bad CD's
ugly toys and scents
none of this means as much
as you, my handsome gent

I have a man who loves me
a Mom who's there for me
a great friend who listens
anytime I need

I have homecooked meals
and comfortable clothes
things are good
in my pleasant abode

I don't think things
can make you happy
but good company
is always cherished.
