It was only yesterday
that I played in the creek and giggled with delight
as I learned to swim;

It was only yesterday
that I skinned my knee and had my Mother to comfort me
and wipe the tears from my eyes.

It was only yesterday
that I primped and preened in the mirror before me
readying myself for that first date.

It was only yesterday
that I danced in arms that held me...
just a bit too close

It was only yesterday
that I found my own true love
who would be my partner for life.

It was only yesterday
that the babe was born
then taken as God's newest angel.

It was only yesterday
that I learned that life has snags
but the heart continues to beat and glow.

It was only yesterday
that loved ones moved on to a glorious place
to wait for me.

It was only yesterday...
but I am here and now and loving every minute of it
until I become...only yesterday...
yet with no regrets.
