A poem written for a poetry contest yesterday.

Poem Artwork

As Jet planes streaked determinedly through bright sky,
While angry words are expressed over lands from afar,
And soft friendly clouds floated effortlessly up high,
Yet, into two tall buildings, igniting like a glowing star.

While angry words are expressed over lands from afar,
As pensive women watch in horror, as little children cry,
Yet, into two tall buildings, igniting like a glowing star,
And terrified onlookers, reach out helping those who try.

As pensive women watch in horror, as little children cry,
But madman die, in flaming airplanes that simply collide,
And terrified onlookers, reach out helping those who try,
While rescue workers can’t believe they must now decide.

But madman die, in flaming airplanes that simply collide,
Yet, tortured onlookers gawk in wonder, faces terrified,
While rescue workers can’t believe they must now decide,
As an army joins them, walking strong and quiet alongside.

Yet, tortured onlookers gawk in wonder, faces terrified,
As the President cries out in rage, terrorists plan to die,
As an army joins them, walking strong and quiet alongside,
And bodies appear in the rubble, traumatized people cry.

As the President cries out in rage, terrorists plan to die,
While angry words are expressed over lands from afar,
And bodies appear in the rubble, traumatized people cry,
As jet planes streaked determinedly through bright sky.
