Love's Loss

my love's lost
in time's immeasurable mist
yearning for clarity in subtlety
abased by words spoken
unremarked upon and
lost flailing within
the infinitude of
human existence

what can be said that
hasn't been said before
the joy in repetition an indulgence
in self-pity
a longing for recognition
for the acknowledgement of
difference

as if
any one of us is any different
from any other in
any way

my hope's found in the realization
that beneath the veil and
beyond the dark curtain lies
anonymity and
the soothing comfort of sameness
is the acknowledgement
of that very eternity we fled
before realizing that

it is our destiny
to be sacrificed upon
the alter of love
lost

it is our destiny
to be shredded beneath
the eagle's claws
to be returned
to the sea of beginnings
to be born upon
the cresting tide of evolutionary
awareness

love lost
hope found
in every moment's recognition of
impending death
for what lies beyond consciousness
waiting for us all in ever-present
and continuous ripples of
tide-like wonder is the answer
to all questions and the realization
that we've always known
the end of the story
after all

Powerful and inspiring write! To me, this was the strongest stanza - I feel many can relate ...
"... it is our destiny
to be sacrificed upon
the alter of love
lost ..."

Another outstanding poignant write, Mark!

God bless,

Sandie.

Amen to that! Saw a PBS program about DNA and tracing our ancestors. We are all out of Africa, in different stages. Travel broadens thought and horizons.

A very good post!

This is really Mark; as others have said before me, Outstanding! This flows, developes in change smoothly, is powerful in descriptiveness and projected feeling. This is one to come back to and enjoy again. BRAVO!

A penetrating write on the sense of isolation that paradoxically permeates the human condition in this world of billions. I suppose that's a major part of story we have to live before reaching that page at "the end of the story." Enjoyed this very much.

Very nice! I always have to pick a favorite line to keep with me. In this one it is this: and continuous ripples of
tide-like wonder is the answer - I think often about how important it is to keep wondering and searching. Without that, I don't think anyone can grow to full potential, and bear the lost loves.

"Welllll, yes, Lord"...*imagine the old church mother singing here* :-)
And I mean old, really old and haggard. That's how I'm feeling about now, but in a resigned and growing sort of way. ;-)
