You gave me a slice of cake with sprinkles
And love. They were of the purest colors…the colors
Of your love. A love you gave, and a love I felt so
Soft and sweet.

I became a pretty sprinkle and went with
The others as they twirled and lulled around
In mid-air. I danced to open music boxes as
The other sprinkles recited your love poems.

My beautiful sprinkles of love from you…such radiant
Colors to cherish, was suddenly taken from me and handed
To another, just as gently as it was given to me.
