For you, Buddy - grownup pal

*Sunrise 1928 - Sunset 2004*

You’ve touched my life with the overwhelming
magic of your love.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am always reminded of my Godfather
Every time I dip teabags in water
It’s the little things
He showed me how to wrap the teabag
Around my spoon instead of squeezing
It with my fingers and burning them.
It’s the little things
He was my playmate and would bend
Over and entwine the fingers of his massive
Hands and make a swing for me. I would
Sit while he swung me between his legs.
I remember his big laughter as he threw me
way up in the air, and me saying “more, more”
It’s the little things
He reminds me of the time my parents had
Company and I gave the men drinks of water
From the toilet bowl
It’s the little things
Even though he was tall and very muscular
he got teased by the “boys” every time he would
call my godmother “honey bun”, not a macho
thing to do back then, but he didn’t care
It’s the little things.
Such a gentle man; always with a smile and
Soft tone, and there to lend a helping hand.
Why didn’t my mother teach me how to wrap
the teabags around my spoon?
I guess special little things are reserved for certain
people
Buddy, I can still feel the warmth of your big arms
The love, gentleness and caring in your heart
will always be with me
I love you...
and always will
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Buddy lost his “honey bun” 10 months ago
and it broke his heart

On January 18, 2004 he peacefully left to join her

I am sorry for the loss you have gone through. Beautiful, wonderful tribute that I hope will be the type of tribute created for me when I leave and my grandchildren are left behind. Thanks! You brought to my mind "The little things" my grandfather use to do before he died. What a gentle soul you have!
