I now walk in the bleak winter of my heart.
Icicle images lie frozen and still in the snow.
Chilling winds threaten to tear me apart.
Weak, cold, shivering and feeling forlorn, I go.
Thoughts of tragedy, horror and love gone bad
pass through the frigid waters in my mind.
They collect in the icy deep pond of sad
and settle into the lowest depths they can find.
Moments of lightness, happiness and cheer
brighten the brittle landscape of my lonely life.
They break briefly through the dark nights of fear
and shine through the mists of struggle and strife.
Soon, spring will come, a promise to keep.
These frost-laden winds will no longer blow.
I will then awaken from this wintry sleep,
no longer feeling pain, and my laughter will flow.
The warmth of summer will then arrive.
The last of winter's icicles, it will melt.
I will once again feel happy to be alive
and will calmly acknowledge all I have felt.
When fall arrives with its colorful shower
of leaves red, brown and gold to see.
I will be able to smile when I remember the power
of the ill fated love I once had in the heart of me.
Lovely seasonal piece...beautifully worded and rhymed

Beautifully written poem, Kali. I would love to experience the 4 seasons. In Hawaii we have the same season all year round and it's beautiful... but I would love to see the leaves change colors and maybe even snow someday.

I wanted to purchase a sukiyaki sub. I parked my car in an area of
