Silently swaying to an inner beat deep inside,
she wrapped her arms around herself real tight.
Dreaming of him was nothing she ever tried to hide,
but the loneliness that filled her did so prolong the night.
He had left her so very many years ago.
The brief note he had left her, gave no explanation.
He'd just walked out of her life and into the snow,
leaving her with no idea of his final destination.
She'd waited here for such a long time now.
She had thought he would come back to her, at last.
Friends gave her advice, well, as much as she'd allow.
The years told her that the time for his coming back was past.
One of these days, she told her friends, I will live again.
No longer will I wait for the man I am without.
I will find a new love, and then over him, I'll win.
Then, he will find out what pain is all about.
How he would know, she never gave a reason.
She had always smiled and changed the subject.
Her philosophy was the same, regardless of the season.
Time passed...but her love was not, for it, an object.
Love never dies. Yes, I do believe this is true .
For most people, time changes its rhythm and tone.
For some people, time's famous healing won't do.
Last night, she finally spent her last night, on earth, alone.
