In the fountain in the square
the water’s pumped up electrically
and children line up to throw coin after
coin to make little wishes into
the foam of the water falling
and returning and rising
and falling

And my forefathers
throwing prayer
after prayer before
God’s foaming love

and the water rises and falls and returns
