The Rose

The rose has never shed a tear
yet the dew is in her soul
her petals weep for broken love
where misery and heartaches grow

Her silken skin of perfumed lace
has symbolized loves sweet birth
her royal, majestic, godlike grace
has reigned upon the earth

A sign, a symbol, a promise made
a pledge of fidelity
a lie which breaks her virgin heart
through cruel humanity

The rose cries as she considers
the lies offered in her name
she hangs her head beneath the sun
and dies in wilted shame
