We always loved... face to face
even in the hard times
and the times were often hard
We always loved... face to face
even in midst of the tears
why didn't we count on the tears
We always loved... face to face
through passion and through pain
and in both, we sang love's sweet refrain
We always loved... face to face
though now, I'm not sure why
my arms are empty, achingly so
our love was born to die
Remember me, as you move on
as life prepares another song
and our youthful dreams, which were never wrong
fight for one last moment
to be held forever
in love's eternal sun

this was so heartfelt, loved the repeating, thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my work, I am finall back here on land, so I can enjoy works, here on Ad. I really do like this, after all it only speaks the truth, you meet, and isn't it the first thing you spot of that person, is the face,,,

I liked this, Lori.
Sometimes, the problem with always being face to face is that you never see the other side. I wrote a piece that shares your title a long while back, I'm glad they had different inspirations. Stay true, my friend.

The repetition emphassises each point like a hammer hitting a nail yet you have given this a gentleness that perfectly counters the anger and bitterness. Good one

So sad and beautiful...so truly an account of lost love...I think though in the long run we realize not only our love but everything was born to die...
