If gold could tarnish
like my heart... my weathered, broken heart
the ring I wore with pride
would have greened long ago...

The ring, the resaurant
the vacant words of promise
are as meaningless now
as the plans we made

Love, all too often rots

the RinG, now burried in a landfill....
the plans, now Divorced from tomorrow....
The ProMiseS, now dead in my... what can be said...
Where does love go to Die....

The was written with unusual line breaks and spacing. However, the html required for the effects is not allowed on the site. It does take away from the poem. Sorry.

Extremely sad and stark reminder that all that glitters is not gold .
Still we must not allow ourselves to carry a Candle for a wholly unworthy and dishonourable liar

The Bible says that two shall cleave together and become one. When the one splits it leaves splinters, fragments of the missing part. That's how love is. The love will always be alive in you just as Christ is. Afterall....God is love. God bless! BEAUTIFUL writing!

Love might be dormant, but it's always there, waiting to be released. Never dead. it's the mind that thinks it's dead.

I think it goes from our hearts into our heads, Lori, a tender area that we touch from time to time, to feel that particular "Love" again, though it is done with pain and sadness. And I think that it actually grows, or changes, into a piece of the person's soul-life, making us more than before...anyway, thinking aside, you've certainly given the reader a nuance of human life many of us would prefer to brush aside, or linger to long upon.

Wonderful New Year to you and yours, Lori!

Lori:

Even though you've said some html are missing from the design of this poem because it wasn't allowed here. I find this poem most intriquing. Your final line - "Where does love go to die" - says a million heartbreaks and is most touching and heartfelt. Hope this is only a poem and not real. Take care!

Happy New Year!!!!!

STILL, this is very magnificent ARTistry from a truly GIFTED ARTIST, with A BRAVE and TRUE HEART! You have an AWESOME WAY with your WORDS!

As LOVE GROWS, where MY ROSE-Mary goes, and NOBODY KNOWS, like mE!

HOW many ROADS WILL a man WALK UPON, before, they CALL HIM a MAN?
The ANSWERS MY FRIEND is BLOWING in the WIND!
The ANSWERS are BLOWING in the WIND!

MOORE than the GREATEST LOVE the WORLD has KNOWN
This IS the LOVE I give to YOU, ALONE!
MOORE than MY HEART IS breaking.
MOORE than my situation, MOORE than you’ll EVER dream of WAKING, SLEEPING, LAUGHING, HEALING!

You are MUCH MOORE than A LOT of other AUTHORS, show THEMSELVES to TRUEly BE!

I HATE FALSEHOODS, But I LOVE YOUR POETIC WORDS!
KEEP writing, you and poetry fits HAND in GLOVE!

Alex put it beautifully. "Love never dies. It's just the hearts that grow cold." I couldn't have said it better. Love lives forever in your heart, it never dies because it's something you can't physcially take away. It's not a choice, but it is the winner in all battles it fights.

Happy New Year!!

Lori, love alwys dies inside your heart. And it dies a very painful, slow, agonizing death. But its rebirth is also inside the heart. And it blooms quickly and makes the world a bright and cheerful place. Death and birth is always the same place.
