I'm more of a modernist, free verse poet with classic tendencies

The type that plays with form and multi-dimensional meanings,

The type that plays with the way words appeal to eyes on paper.

I seek to evoke new meaning and thoughts on life

And encourage the reader to think, to ponder,

To wonder about those things that we can't answer in this life

And the issues that guide and divide us and make us unique—

The whys and the hows and the how about that's

And on second thought, I wouldn't categorize myself

As any certain form or type or even tendency

For I see differences in style, form, and the cadence of voice

Not only in others, but in myself—

It all depends on how I feel and the message I aim to tell that decides

How I tell it, where, and how.

What style drives me today,

May not drive me the next day,

But that's ok

For diversity in life makes it more interesting to live,

It composes the world so why shouldn't it in poetry?

I’ll take my unique voice and add it to the others,

The one's who give voice volume, my sisters and brothers,

Our voices blend all the forms, types, and literary choices,

Melding the tapestry that composes life.

As long as we listen to this poetic cacophony

We lessen the amount of discord and petty strife.

So, maybe now, I should just define myself

As a poet, a voice, raising the volume of a poetic tapestry.

J.,

'Tis true... We all write differently on any given day. Some days, I feel like prose, some days I feel like rhyming, (some days, I don't feel like writing!). Here's to poetic voice!

Good write.
