Like Cellophane

Maybe I’m just way to fragile
See-through skin like cellophane…
Now stretched beyond its limitations,
Pressure causing too much strain.

So weary in the deepest part
I ache through every fiber of…
This body dangling from the edge,
The slightest breeze a fatal shove.

It’s hard to give more when there’s nothing
Left to give that’s more than sorrow…
Seems to me that time has swallowed
Any dreams left for tomorrow.

Yet when I am bent beneath
The weight of those who come to feed…
I’m forced to bury deeper inward
Any thought of my own need.

If only for a day to rest
Within the solitude I crave…
Perhaps I’d offer more but first,
It’s my own self I need to save.

To hide away for just one moment
From the souls who push and prod…
To reach the only rope extended,
Held within the hands of God.

Really loved your last stanza best
"To hide away for just one moment
From the souls who push and prod…
To reach the only rope extended,
Held within the hands of God." Melissa, there is no end to your music

Such nuggets of wisdom can only come from the weighed down and heavy laden...Your burdens are tremendous, but your faith is stronger...Thank God! Always the best of gems from you....

Wonderful poem--and, like Peggy, I especially like the ending!
