Flash flood memories
drown my mind in memories
so deep that I cannot possibly
hope to fight the currents
They pull me deeper
into their swells until
I can no longer grasp
onto reality
I fight the waves of pain
they pull me under their strength
I struggle to regain my strokes
I fight
I gasp
I crawl my way through the
murky tide
Lungs expanded far beyond
a capacity I ever knew possible
Holding onto life
while letting go of fear
I tread lightly through liquid fields
and fragmented thoughts
