The truth is many people who are filled with pain sometimes expect others to feel the pain with them, and when others don't feel their pains then they consider others as heartless and compassionless.
The fact is people who are empathetic can always feel pain for others, even if the others aren't as painful as they thought. It all comes down to individuality. Not everyone is empathetic, but it does not mean that when a person is not empathetic, then he/she is not compassionate.
Understand that we are all unique, and we all lead separate lives in separate places, I certainly would not obligate another person who is having a joyful event in his/her life to feel my pain. It isn't fair. Everyone is entitled to his/her time of happiness, as well as sadness and grieves.
