Reaching deep inside of me
to avoid the possibility
of destroying all I've come to be
and killing my creativity
Allowing others to hold the reins
my inner emotions are retched in pain
twisted into a state of rage
locking me into a self-made cage
seeking the self I used to know
dreaming of a life where I can grow
into the woman I was meant to be
a woman the world holds softly
Never to know the taste of tears
never to know the smell of fear
never to seek a safe retreat inside a life
left incomplete
To know the meaning of life being fair
To know how it feels to seek the care
of arms stretched outward in a loving fashion
without the pretense of self-satisfaction
A life full of butterflies and balloons
gentle kisses and roses in bloom
this is the life I am reaching to know
this the dream of one who seeks to grow
into a woman the world holds gently
into a woman reaching....
constantly
