Poem Artwork

Of Flowers, Birds, and Mothers Fair...

She stands there with her jumbled hair--
the broken tumbleweeds and grass
giving her locks an earthy flair;

but one that resonates with class
instead of looking just a mess--
she catches looks from those who pass.

She carries herself with finesse--
Her gently curving arms on hips
that swirl in their copper dress.

The autumn colors hide her lips
which wore the shade of summer’s words
and touched my heart like fingertips.

But fleeting moments, like the birds,
have flown now to another sphere
where lines between the worlds are blurred

as new flowers emerge each year
to act as nature’s healing balm.
It dries my tears to see you here--

Your presence is a calming psalm.

A beautiful bouquet of words! Gorgeous imagery. My favorite lines, "She stands there with her jumbled hair--
the broken tumbleweeds and grass
giving her locks an earthy flair;" Just beautiful!

Absolutely beautiful, Cryssa, not like the ugly side of Spring we saw today - severe storms, even a funnel cloud! This much nicer, calms the soul to read/see it. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

...you words here...have given Spring a makeover...and remembered it in a floral face...when it was vibrant...now seen for yet its beauty still...in the newness of todays garden. Wonderful Cryssa...

A most delightful poem to read as nature is about to renew itself here in the North East and beautiful flowers will once again grace our gardens.

Rich and beautifully composed! We've been knee deep in soil, planting, turning, laughing like muddy children, this is a sweet nightcap after all our work in the gardens!

There is so much heartfelt sentiment in this, Cryssa. I adore the personification and tenderness. Wonderful sustained metaphor... almost Wordsworthian, methinks. Such richness here, thank you. Kate xx

Oh, absolutely fabulous, Crys! This is my favorite part:
"The autumn colors hide her lips
which wore the shade of summer’s words
and touched my heart like fingertips."

I also love the hands on the hips-- so perfect for the picture... and mom's pitcher...ZOWIE! Got me. --Charlie
