Yucca Bloom

Written in a loose Quatern form.
*Yucca Bloom* Today, I saw a yucca bloom- its beauty rising up from spines, a flower in a desert spot-- Reminding me of mother, gone. Memories waft upon the air with images of yucca bloom-- Reminding me of mother’s home -She beautified a desert spot. Ivory flowers graceful stand much like my mother’s stately stance-- Today, I saw a yucca bloom and wished that I could see again… My childhood home with mother there and songbirds singing in the air Then-- sweetly on the singing breeze the scent of yucca entered in. Today, I saw a yucca bloom…

I remember rushing into the house, "MOM! There's a HUGE asparagus in the middle of your yucca plant!" Mom said it was just a flower, but when I kept insisting, she came out with me to see it. I know now it wasn't my insistence that drew her out. She so loved to see the miracle of blooming things. And there's something wholesomely magic with this particular bloom, the plant itself being so mundane-looking, yet its bloom so gorgeous.

I love the interlinking language and cascade of thoughts here, Cryssa, which suit your form very well. This is tender as tendrils yet sturdy with resiliance! The timelessness of the plant as it blooms has the ability to transport us back in both time and place, making precious memories as vivid as an experience in the here and now. Lovely merger of feeling with sense. Long may that yucca continue in her life of renewed colour and fond remembrances. xx
