Christmas Spirit

If no one arrives for Christmas, will Christmas still come?

If no presents were bought, does that mean there are none?

If a tree doesn’t get decorated, is it not a Christmas tree?

If I never see Santa Claus, should my heart still believe?

 Christmas is a beautiful spirit, a spirit that lies beneath.

It may come when you hear a song or hang a piney wreath.

It can appear from a scent of pine or the tinkle of a bell.

It can come from a Christmas card that just says NOEL.

I believe Christmas will come if you’re ready or not.

I believe it will still be great even if no presents were bought.

And even if the tree isn’t decorated with all the balls and lights.

I believe Christmas will still arrive, bringing treasures of delight.

For it’s not the presents underneath the tree,

It’s not the decorations as pretty as they can be.

It’s not seeing Santa that makes me believe.

And it’s not the cards that give the spirit to me.

It’s watching the hearts open of good people that I see.

Watching them give from their hearts & love generously.

Watching them feed the hungry when they are hungry too.

This is what brings my Christmas spirit,

Watching God’s children and all they can do.
