 Cupid’s Almost Done

Cupid was almost finished & only had a few more request to fill.

One was an old man in the great state of Texas who resided on a hill.

The other was a widow who lived in a valley of beautiful Tennessee.

They didn’t appear to be a perfect fit, but let’s just wait & see.

The old man loved to gaze down on the valley far below.

It made him feel superior while watching the river flow.

The widow loved her valley where she felt part of the soil.

For everyday she’d tend her garden for hours she would toil.

But Cupid thought with a little imagination and a little fate.

Those two could be brought together and find their perfect mate.

The old man could let her plant a garden high upon his knoll

The widow could tend the garden to have happiness in her soul.

So Cupid shot the two with arrows to see if his idea could bear fruit.

He joined the old man and the widow to see if they would suit.

But the old man refused to disrupt his hill with a garden of any kind.

And the woman grew despondent and upset, she almost lost her mind.

Not one single tomato or vegetable would he allow his wife to sow.

So she dug one hole, planted him, to see if anything would grow.

So he received what he wanted to reside eternally on his hill.

And the widow gave him what he wanted, she really fit the bill.

Trees & veggies sprung up all over, it was a wonderful sight to see.
And she became a widow again, something she always wanted to be.
