The decision was made
by poverties cruel fate,
the twisted smile it wore
on the paradox of its face.
Thoughts of reality
that once raged by indecisions
laid buried beneath my flesh,
entombed in a shrine of mistakes.
I walked into the clinic
unconsciously, alone in a world
with the eyes of a innocent child
awaken to become forlorn.
Drugged to endure the pain
I laid upon my bed of truth,
closing my eyes to hide my shame,
with tears that I refused.
Fingernails dug into palms
that yearned to hold this child,
to comfort it from its brutal death,
I walked my own green mile.
Biting my heels into cold steel
as my child silently screamed
in its moment of death,
I spiraled into my own hell, profusely I bled.
Numb and lifeless with a blank stare
I knew the ultimate pain of choice,
it whispered my eternal voice of remorse.
With embedded scars of reality I hold
within my empty arms, the child who was never born.
Oh my god, I had goosebumps and tears through this agonized read...it is the scream of hopless agony, of hate at self, at life, at unfairness and injustice...it is the seething hell of guilt and the loss of soul-peace, for eternity...it is human.
Excellent piece, wringing profound, searching emotions out of the reader...

This is one of the most powerful things I've ever read. After being a counselor for women with post traumatic stress disorder associated with abortion, I can tell you Tracey, this poem puts all the depths of the hell suffered into words. Profound write.
Rovella is a beautiful woman with a cold heart whom blames herself for an unfortunate old family secret that is literally ruining her life. This secret impedes a gorgeous woman from having happiness in her childhood, and throughout her life. Dark sec
