Things done in the dark don't change
when they hit the light
mind captured
body covered
in Skelton Grey...despair left in shadows of human stains
...where nothing ever remains
the same

Poem Artwork

Darkness fills the room
Covering the staleness in the air
Never knew the range of darkness
In here
Ten-thousand shades of grey
In each and every particle of the walls
Human spirits delusional
Rise and fall
Displaying the gorgeous
Faces of pain
Leaving on the walls
The shadows of
Human stains
It was a cold morn
In the early days
Of March
Sun done rose but the moon fades slowly
And the stars
My mother wails covered the halls
And stairs
Blood pouring from her womb
Conjure woman forced out of there
go home
Let the professional take care of her now
Mother’s eye wide with despair
She knew she needed the conjure
Woman there
But what could she do
Daddy didn’t believe
In her words to be true
Till I came baring
The mark of
Mysterious thang stains

Mother took her last breath
Consumed in my eyes
Dropping a finale
Tear for my life
she would have given her all
Again she whispered to him
Love my baby girl
They placed me in his hands
But his heart had been
Drained with my
Mothers’ blood stains

For a long time
I watched those eyes
Daytime or night
Watching me from a far
Crazy woman who wore
lots of scars
lived back in the woods
She eat little kids
That’s what she did
My father said
But his hands, his eyes, his heart was cold
To the world
To me
and I knew she knew my story
that was guarded and untold
And why the heavy burden of guilt and shame
And the glorious tread markings
Of stains

It all happened so fast
And the stain will forever……last
You take her place
He yelled
and I did in the many nights that followed
behind
You got her face…the same face
You would have her smile
(Mumbling) if you wasn’t my child
and he changed in the darkness of
my room and it’s strange
the burning in my womb
my cries went forever unheard
and the danger he didn’t know
would find him after years
laid head open
in the corner
stone floor
covered in grey
with the striking color
of brain stains

funny the color
of silk grey hanging a long way
to the floor
and stone grey filled with holes
coldness and stale grey
almost the same
smoky and cloud grey
just a touch more mundane
but black folk dead grey
now that is just a different thang
remembering that much in my mother’s eyes
and father head bust open wide
are two shades of pain grey?
when all I wanted was the answers
to why
and I walk away
through the woods
misty grey
and carrying both
their uttering forgiveness
stains

does she know I am coming?
or did she lay out my path
did she know I could see her?
and that when I did I laughed
would she explain the numbers?
I hold in my hand
Would she turn me away?
Even as she watched me
Burn my fathers land

How about the not having answers grey
And the terrible thirst for knowledge grey
The confusing and passion left wild grey
And the gorgeous sighs of angels
Fallen’ and dying grey
That has left me covered in ashes
Stains

Things done in the dark don’t change
When they hit the light
Mind captured
Body covered
In Skelton grey
despair left in shadows of human stains
…where nothing ever remain
The same

A tragedy of epic proportions and a never ending cycle in poorer lands. Why does it have to be this way?

That's enormous, would need to be read a hundred times and yet, you wouldn't have got all out of it there is to it. You are boundless energy exploring its whereabouts within. Deeply impressing me. Mighty great.

Pain painted so vividly that it aches to read and the truth in the words hurts the very core like a twisted knife.

When the day is done, and the measure taken, your words will still live for others, life in vain is not the reality, man is man, and each leaves a mark, some to paper some to mind some just in the wind, you
leave images burned forever in memories...Walt

There is a great deal of pain in this and the truth about things done in the dark which shall come to light. Very compelling and brutally honest.

I love the first and last verse the most.

It caused some pain to realize
we are all stains, maybe our last effort
to influence to culture quilt of humanity.

Thanks for making confusion normal in "bellwether"

That sure is a tragic mind numbing, poignantly told write.

It leaves one with a dark aftermouth.

ahhhhhhh Mitzi, what a burden to carry, and only one Lord to share the load. He does care and He is there, but not always easy to understand.

I agree with Jerry, this will haunt a long time, because of your gifted ability to say it like it is.stark and "in your face" you reach your reader better than most with this kind of write.

My heart goes out to you, as well as my prayers

love and hugs...eileen

Okay. You did a little of your own conjuring in this wild and wooly, get-down piece of well-written damn prose/poetry, whatever. All I know is that I was on the edge of my seat, leaning forward a little further as I read each and every word of this slap-you-in-the-face poem. The despair and gloom and tragic revelations of the mini-saga will stay inside my thoughts for a very long time.

mitzi,

wow, this is quite a story to verse
and so queerly conceptual as real
tangible to read
feeling the stone cold air
the mallet and the pulses

peace to you baby girl

thanks,
d.
