Diving Buddy

My buddy of forty years just passed
And I miss him with smiles not tears.
I remember the things we did
And the wild places we went
With absolutely no fears.
 
Little cantinas in Mexico
Tequilla kissed with lime
Diving Trips in the ocean
Life was truly fine.
 
Flying to British Honduras
Just we two in a twin engine plane
With diving gear and crackers
They thought we were insane
 
We shared many adventures
My friend Chuck and I
You can understand the reason
I smile instead of cry.
 
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt
Wherever he might be
He has packed his diving gear
And is waiting there for me
