On a day called Independence day,
the sun arose and shone ,
On a rooftop where someone had been ,after the night had gone .

During the night he cried alone with nobody there to see ,
because he had a problem
and couldn’t face his family .

He had just returned from the war
and couldn’t tell friend from foe ,
caught up in a backwash of fear ,
with a toxic undertow .

During the night he thought about a perfect world in a dream ,
but woke up in a nightmare ,
with nobody to hear him scream .

He climbed down from the rooftop somewhere on Independence day ,
and thought there’s no where else on earth like the good old USA .
