The Thief Of London Who Took Everything I had

At The Slaughterhouse Door
By Paul McCann
.
After my sister died I felt I had to get away to come to terms with everything life had thrown my way .
I left my job and packed my bags to seek some healing time
so I booked a flight to London, in 1989.

The plane touched down upon the ground , the sky was overcast .
Memories clung around my head of events that had just past.
I needed some soul searching ,
to seek what I had to do ,
to help me reconnect with the person that I once knew .

I paid for a bed at a youth hostel next to St Pauls and watched strangers shadow boxing around the hostel walls .
I placed my bag under the bed and went to see the town ,
On my return I learned a thief turned my life upside down .

All of my stuff was stolen and I was left in a mess .
I stood there with one set of clothes and I was now homeless .
I had no passport , no money , no friends or family .
For three years I survived a merciless calamity .

One bad person’s actions had made my life a living hell .
Like a lamb at the slaughterhouse where the snow and rain fell .
However I managed to survive,
well God only knows .
I returned back to Australia
and the slaughter house had closed .
.

You are a very strong person to have survived that and not broken down. Good that you have survived and be back in your homeland.
