I wish I were made of wood
I could be carved in the proper way
Perhaps I could be a table then
Where books of poetry lay
Or maybe if I were stone or brick
I could be used to build a wall
And I would never feel the pain
Would never have to fall
Or maybe if I were a piece of cloth
I could be sewn into a quilt
Then I could spend all day in bed
And never feel a bit of guilt
But instead I was born of flesh and blood
A product of my father’s seed
I make mistakes, I say too much
And if you cut me I will bleed
It doesn’t take a knife or saw
To cut a bloody hole
It only takes hurtful words
To injure my mortal soul

Sue,
There is nothing to say about this but perfect. I love the way you word things.
We all use words for their power to convey our thoughts and feelings....we should all remember how powerful words can be.
Great write my friend,
Sharon;)

Hi Sue,
The lady lands perceptibly,
In her utterances delicately,
Yet doth she not woundeth me,
In barbs tipped in her irony.

So true of all of us, whether or not we admit it! Candid, well expressed poetry...

Everything can perish. Feel blessed you're alive...and a human. As a brick, you could be thrown on the floor and smashed....how would that feel?
