Loneliness is listening
To a summer thunderstorm
Hearing the rain pounding the roof with a passion
That you envy
The wind howling thru every crevice
Only makes you more aware
Of how alone you are
And you are jealous of its ardor
You snuggle deeper into
A sea of blankets
To find warmth that isn’t there
Laying your head on a pillow that can’t
Take the place of his arms
You let your tears
Join the rain
You let your sighs
Merge with the wind
And in the comfort of your lonely bed
You have your own
Private tempest
And pray for the calm after the storm
To lull you into dreamless sleep
