I’ve been manic lately
Thoughts and words spilling from me
And my keyboard like school kids leaving
The building at the beginning of summer
My mind races
Emotions mercurial and brief
My body is on fire with anticipation
Of the next thrill
And people who know me just shake
Their heads and smile

I feel the cycle winding down though
I hate the other me
The one who comes to rescue me
Before I burn myself out by spontaneous combustion
I watch it start, as if from a distance
It’s getting harder to get up in the morning
Working out takes all my will power
I’m still emotional but the emotions
Tend to be down rather than up
And harder to shake off

All of you who know me have seen it before
And you all see me through it with amazing patience
Especially John, who just cyber-grins
And tells me ‘you women are all nuts’
Somehow it works better than consolation
For those of you just meeting me
It may seem as if another person
Has taken over my keyboard
but it won’t last
I’m the dominate one in this conflict
Of personalities they call mood swings
I always come back stronger than ever
And I actually enjoy the humiliation
The ‘other sue’ feels when she sees
The mischief I have been up to
(She has no imagination and she
Is always appalled at my audacity
When I’m the one in charge)

Sound crazy to you?
Of course it is
My sister Scada and I
Are always the first to admit
To insanity or mental instability
Its our trademark
And we bear it with as much dignity
As we can allow ourselves (right sis?)

I’m explaining this to all my new friends
Because I see the changes coming
The old ones will just grin
And say ‘it’s that time again’
And it is….

'I' would see someone about this but 'she' enjoys it too much....(the other sue)
